Description

Two months prior to the release of their classic “Death Metal” album in August 1997, the undisputed Kings of Swedish Death Metal DISMEMBER (Dismember Sweden) launched the “Misanthropic” CD-EP as advance to their upcoming album.

This CD featured an advance song (“Misanthropic”) together with a cover version of the classic “Pagan Saviour” song taken from the AUTOPSY debut album “Severed Survival” (1989), one of the greatest Death Metal bands ever and absolute influence in the early DISMEMBER sound. To complete the EP, three new and unreleased songs were included, songs that the band felt to be released separately to the upcoming “Death Metal” album.

All together, the “Misanthropic” EP is a damn brutal mini album chuckfull of chugging rhythms, thick Swedish guitars and pounding vocals – a cross between the roughness of their “Pieces” EP and the fluid leads of the “Indecent And Obscene” album. This is ‘vintage’ DISMEMBER and it maintains the proud tradition of the best Swedish Death Metal.

Now, 27 years later, the “Misanthropic” EP gets a proper recognition being released for the first time as a single 12” vinyl (it was previosuly only available as bonus on the double LP reissue of the “Death Metal” album or as part of the “Historia Mortis” Box Set (released and inmediately sold out by Nuclear Blast Records in 2023).
