Cosmophage hail from Brazil, a land known for its phenomenal metallic output. With their debut demo tape, the band make their intentions known. Presented by Me Saco un Ojo Records, this serves as a first warning before they deliver their debut album in 2025 (also via Me Saco Un Ojo Records, in cooperation with Memento Mori).
The first thing that will hit you is the technical proficiency of this band. Their tight, refined and unapologetically musically able take on Death Metal is definitely a more contemporary variant. That said, their core remains chock full of killer riffing and meaty hooks with superb drums and vocals surrounding the otherworldly guitar work. Although a band with some more progressive tendencies, Cosmophage do not forget to be a Death Metal band and give us plenty of aggressive ferocity throughout the demo, retaining that authentic sense of tension.
Many of you will be impressed by a band coming out with a release being of such high quality, so remember that this is somehow their first demo and a debut album is hot on its heels… Regardless this is some truly excellent Death Metal that combines the savagery of the genres classics with technicality and exhilarating songwriting that promises to take you on a cosmic journey of horror and mystery while pulverising your skull in the process…
